Hello and warm greetings
I am American and currently live in Germany. I'm working on finding out information about my great-grandfather. I have many family members who live here and also work to learn more information. My grandma in the United States helped with memories, but there are few. We contacted the Federal Archives in Berlin and received its NSDAP membership card and some correspondence from 1935-1936. We found his name on this page with information. I am not sure how well it is deciphered.
We have the following:
Found on this page:
ORTLOFF Willibald, SS-Rttf., SS-Inf.Ers.Btl. "D" Prague-Rusin (Erinn.Med. 1.10.38)
From the family:
Membership card from 1932, I can give the number if needed.
Born in Hesse in 1905.
Lived in Schneidemuhl and my grandmother remembers Poznan and lived there in a big house until the end of the war and then fled.
The family believes that he is an engineer or a mechanic.
I'm not sure how to decrypt the list with his name on this site. I've been working on getting the shortcuts, but I'm not sure of some. And also if Willibald was replaced or he was replaced at the Prague Rusin. I've found some websites that contain information about this airfield but nothing I understand. I have worked on it for many hours and appreciate any help in this matter.
I also apologize because my German is not good enough to type myself out, so I use Google Translate to help.
Thank you for your help,
Christina Miller
