It really does not seem easy to find useful information about this unit. At the moment I have found only a hint and a map for the searched time window. The hint in the mentioned source could perhaps still help. The Corps D Division is mentioned here in connection with the 252nd Infantry Division and the 212th Infantry Division. I'll keep looking and get in touch again.

Die Korps-Abteilung D ist erst am 2. November 1943 durch Zusammenlegung der 56. Infanterie-Division und der 262. Infanterie-Division entstanden. Das Heeresgruppen-Kommando gibt in diesen Tagen an das OKH durch, dass von den in der Front stehenden Großverbänden keiner in der Lage ist, einen Angriff größerer Art durchzustehen. Dagegen ist u.a. zu begrenzten Angriffsmöglichkeiten die Korps-Abteilung D geeignet.

Am 22. Juni beginnt der feindliche Großangriff auf die Heeresgruppe Mitte. Die 3. Panzer-Armee ist das erste Ziel der feindlichen 1. Baltischen Front, die mit 5 Armeen vom Norden und Süden her den Frontbogen Witebsk konzentrisch angreift. Die am äußersten linken Flügel der dt. Abwehrfront haltende 252. Infanterie-Division wird im ersten Anlauf vom feindlichen XII. Gardekorps überrannt, dass einen Durchbruch von 8 Kilometer Breite erzielt und damit die Heeresgruppe Mitte von der Heeresgruppe Nord trennt.

Der Großangriff im Süden von Witebsk führt zur Zerschlagung der 299. Infanterie-Division. Bis zum Nachmittag entstehen drei tiefe Einbrüche, die auch nicht mehr im Gegenangriff von Kampfgruppen der 95. und der 256. Infanterie-Division bereinigt werden können.

Da bei Korps-Abteilung D Trümmer zurückkommen, vor allem infanteristisch, südlich Moshno-See bis an Nordspitze Budowischtsche-See Seenenge gesperrt. Feind im Vorgehen von Merstjaki und von Moshno-See auf Dobejewskoje-See.

Korps-Abteilung D hat an Artillerie noch 20 leichte Feldhaubitzen und 8 schwere, jedoch Munitionsschwierigkeiten. Trümmer zwischen Michalowo-See und Budowischtsche-See, anscheinend kein Feinddruck. Unklar nördlich Latkowa, bei 24. Infanterie-Division. Rowenez wieder verloren. Feind weiter nach Südwesten vorgestoßen, sodass Verbindung mit nördlichem Regiment wieder verloren.

Feind im Wald nordostwärts Chodorowka. Von dort bis Obol eigene Riegel-Besetzung. Gegenangriff 24. Infanterie-Division hat Nordspitze Puschtschewye-See erreicht. Bataillon 279 vorgesehen zur Besetzung Mjassejedowo-Riegel.

Die geringen Kräfte in der Seenenge, fürchte ich, werden morgen auch noch zerschlagen werden.
Antwort Oberbefehlshaber: Nein, Tigerstellung ist zu halten. Korpsabteilung D ganz scharf auf den Kopf spucken, ein Skandal, nach 2 Tagen von Verlust der Widerstandskraft zu sprechen. Mache Kommandeure dafür verantwortlich, dass Truppe jetzt so kämpft, wie man es von ihr verlangen muß.
